Zion Williamson Out, Brandon Ingram Questionable for Pelicans vs. Pistons

Zion Williamson won’t be participating in the Thursday game against the Pistons as he’s taking a rest. Additionally, Brandon Ingram, who has a knee issue, is questionable for tonight’s game.

Ingram was absent from the past two games because of discomfort in his right knee, and the diagnosis has been updated to indicate right knee tendinitis.

Nevertheless, there’s still a chance he’ll be available to play in the latter half of the Pelicans’ back-to-back games.

Given Williamson’s history of significant injuries in his first four seasons, it’s not surprising to see the Pelicans taking a cautious approach, especially on the second leg of a back-to-back on Thursday.

Williamson has participated in the team’s initial four games this season and has been averaging 21.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game while maintaining a 50.7% field goal shooting rate.

The Pelicans come into this game with a 3-1 record in their first four matches, following a 110-106 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder on the road on Wednesday night.

In that game, Williamson played for 33 minutes and contributed 20 points, ten rebounds, and eight assists, making 7 out of 20 field goal attempts.

Larry Nance and E.J. Liddell are potential candidates to see increased playing time in his absence. It is expected that Williamson will be ready to return for the Saturday matchup against Atlanta.
