The Washington Wizards have officially added guard Devon Dotson to their roster, signing him to an Exhibit 10 contract, as announced by the team.
In order to make space on their 21-man preseason roster, the Wizards made the decision to release Jules Bernard, who had also been signed under an Exhibit 10 deal. Following these transactions, the Wizards’ roster remains at full capacity.
Dotson, aged 24, has previously made appearances in 28 games across three seasons with the Chicago Bulls and the Washington Wizards.
His statistics have been relatively modest, with averages of 2.0 points per game and 1.1 assists per game in 6.7 minutes per game. Notably, all of these appearances occurred while he was on two-way contracts.
During the prior season, Dotson, a former standout from the University of Kansas, spent a couple of months on a two-way contract with the Wizards but was waived in January.
Despite only participating in six games for the Wizards in the 2022/23 season, he delivered a strong performance during the regular season for the Wizards’ NBA G League affiliate, the Capital City Go-Go.
He averaged 14.8 points per game, 6.1 assists, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.2 steals in 29 games while playing an average of 31.7 minutes per game.
It’s important to note that Exhibit 10 contracts have the potential to be converted into two-way deals, and the Wizards currently have one available two-way slot.
If Dotson doesn’t receive a promotion to a two-way contract and is instead waived before the ’23/24 season, he would still be eligible for a bonus of up to $75,000 if he spends a minimum of 60 days with the Capital City Go-Go.
