Wizards’ Forward, Gill, to Miss Rest of Preseason Due to Hamstring Injury

During Tuesday’s preseason match against the Cairns Taipans of Australia’s NBL, Wizards forward Anthony Gill sustained an injury to his left hamstring, which is anticipated to keep him out of action for 2 to 3 weeks, as announced by the team.

This hamstring injury will lead to Gill’s absence for the rest of the preseason. While it is not expected to significantly impact Washington’s player rotation, his availability for the team’s season opener against Indiana on October 25 remains uncertain.

Following his undrafted status in the 2016 NBA Draft, Gill marked his NBA debut when he inked a two-year contract with the Wizards ahead of the 2020-21 season.

He transitioned into a restricted free agent in the 2022 offseason but ultimately chose to recommit to the Wizards with another two-year agreement. He currently finds himself in the last year of that second contract.

Gill has skillfully crafted a niche for himself as a valuable contributor off the Wizards’ bench.

In the 2022-23 season, he participated in 59 games, including eight as a starter, averaging slightly over ten minutes per game. His statistical output included an average of 3.3 points and 1.7 rebounds per game.
