According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, free agent guard Vit Krejci has signed a four-year contract worth $10 million to rejoin the Atlanta Hawks.
Last month, Atlanta extended a qualifying offer to Krejci, making him a restricted free agent. The 24-year-old from Czechia was drafted 37th overall in 2020.
Towards the end of last season, there was talk that Atlanta might shift Krejci from his two-way contract to a regular deal to make him eligible for the playoffs, but that didn’t happen.
Standing at 6 feet 8 inches, Krejci is a versatile guard who spent his first season after being drafted recovering from a torn ACL. He initially signed a multiyear deal with the Thunder before the 2021/22 season and played 30 games as a rookie.
In September 2022, Atlanta acquired Krejci from Oklahoma City in a move primarily driven by financial considerations. During the ’22/23 season, he appeared in 29 games for the Hawks, averaging 5.3 minutes per game.
Last August, the Hawks waived Krejci when he was on a non-guaranteed contract due to roster constraints. He later joined Minnesota on an Exhibit 10 training camp contract but was released before the ’23/24 season began.
Vit returned to Atlanta in December on a two-way contract and, partly due to injuries, became a regular in the rotation toward the end of the season. In 22 games, including 14 starts, he averaged 6.1 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game.
