The Utah Jazz have made adjustments to their preseason roster by officially waiving three players, as disclosed in a press release.
The players released are swingman Romeo Langford, guard Michael Devoe, and forward Keshawn Justice.
Langford, Devoe, and Justice were all under Exhibit 10 contracts, which make them eligible for bonuses of up to $75,000 if they spend a minimum of 60 days with the Utah Jazz’s G League affiliate, the Salt Lake City Stars.
Despite their release, they aren’t obligated to join the G League immediately; they can explore other opportunities if they prefer. However, it seems the plan for all three is to head to the G League.
Romeo Langford, who will turn 24 soon, was initially drafted 14th overall by the Boston Celtics in 2019 when the current Jazz CEO, Danny Ainge, was in charge of Boston’s basketball operations.
He has demonstrated defensive potential but hasn’t developed a strong offensive game, averaging 4.6 points per game in the NBA.
Michael Devoe played for the Ontario Clippers in the G League last season after going undrafted from Georgia Tech.
He had decent stats in his rookie season but had an impressive showing in the Summer League for Portland.
Keshawn Justice, who went undrafted in June after a long college career at Santa Clara, played for the Jazz’s Summer League team.
The Jazz now have 18 players under contract. While their roster appears prepared for the regular season, they still have three open roster spots that could be used for G League purposes.
