In Thursday night’s Game 2 of the Eastern Conference finals, Pacers’ standout Tyrese Haliburton had to leave the court with 3:44 remaining in the third quarter due to left hamstring soreness, as announced by the team during the fourth quarter.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports that a similar left hamstring soreness had previously kept him out for nearly 10 games back in January, but we are hoping it doesn’t go that extent.
Haliburton was also contending with chest soreness, which led him to spend most of halftime being examined by the Celtics’ medical staff. Despite attempting to push through the discomfort in his chest after halftime, the leg soreness ultimately sidelined him for the remainder of the game.
Before exiting, Haliburton managed to score 10 points in 28 minutes, shooting 4 of 8 from the field and 2 of 6 from beyond the arc. He also contributed eight assists and grabbed four rebounds.
Notably, Haliburton was recently named to the third-team All-NBA after an impressive regular season averaging 20.1 points and a league-leading 10.9 assists per game.
Despite currently trailing 1-0 and facing the possibility of falling behind 2-0 tonight, the Pacers are counting on their star player to be ready when the series moves to Indiana for games 3 and 4.
The Pacers have maintained an undefeated record on their home court throughout this series, and they aim to continue that trend as they host the Celtics in the upcoming games.
