OCT 19 : The OKC Thunder has made roster moves as the regular season approaches. They’ve officially brought guards Caleb McConnell and Adam Flagler on board while parting ways with KJ Williams and Hunter Maldonado as per the teams’ PR.
Caleb McConnell, a standout player with two Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year awards, posted solid stats last season at Rutgers, contributing 9.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 2.5 steals.
Meanwhile, guard Adam Flagler, recognized as an honorable mention in the 2022-23 AP All-American list, showcased his skills at Baylor last season, averaging 15.6 points, 4.6 assists, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.2 steals.
As for Hunter Maldonado and KJ Williams, they are set to join the Thunder’s G League affiliate, the Oklahoma City Blue. It’s highly probable that Caleb McConnell and Adam Flagler will also become part of the Oklahoma City Blue.
Both McConnell and Flagler had the opportunity to showcase their skills with the Thunder during the Summer League.
These recent roster adjustments have now filled Oklahoma City’s offseason roster to its maximum capacity of 21 players.
OCT 18 : Hunter Maldonado and KJ Williams have been officially signed by the Oklahoma City Thunder, reports Marc Spears.
In the previous season, Maldonado served as the top scorer (15.6 points per game) and playmaker (4.0 assists) for the Wyoming Cowboys, securing himself a second-team all-Mountain West recognition.
On the other hand, KJ Williams, during the 2022-23 season at LSU, boasted an impressive stat line with averages of 17.7 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 1.2 steals per game.
Though the specific terms of these contracts remain undisclosed, it is widely assumed that both Hunter and Williams are likely candidates to be designated as affiliated players for the Oklahoma City Blue, which happens to be the Thunder’s G League team.
If they fulfill the requirement of spending a minimum of 60 days with the Blue, they become eligible for Exhibit 10 bonuses, potentially amounting to a maximum of $75,000.
