The Brooklyn Nets Have Signed Free Agent Guards Trey McGowens and Kameron Hankerson

The Brooklyn Nets have inked two free agent guards, bringing Trey McGowens and Kameron Hankerson on board for their training camp squad, according Keith Smith of Spotrac.

While the specifics of the two agreements remain undisclosed, they are almost certainly Exhibit 10 contracts, intended to potentially earn McGowens and Hankerson some bonus money (up to $75,000) if they report to the Long Island Nets in the G League after their release from Brooklyn.

Both McGowens and Hankerson were members of the Long Island team in the previous season.

McGowens, who went undrafted from Nebraska in 2022, came off the bench in 23 regular-season games for the NBAGL club, boasting averages of 3.7 points, 1.2 rebounds, and 1.0 assists in 10.3 minutes per game. Notably, he is the elder sibling of Hornets rookie Bryce McGowens.

Hankerson, who appeared in 44 combined regular-season and Showcase Cup matchups for Long Island, posted 6.9 points per game, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in 16.3 minutes per game, with a shooting line of 43.1%/33.9%/85.7%.

He previously spent a couple of seasons playing in Germany after going undrafted from Green Bay in 2020.

At present, the Brooklyn Nets have 20 players under contract, which leaves them just one short of the 21-man preseason limit.
