Talented Guard, Dexter Dennis Joins the Dallas Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks have taken a significant step in preparing for the upcoming season by signing guard Dexter Dennis to an exhibit 10 contract, which now brings their training camp roster to a total of 21 players. This new acquisition was officially reported by the team’s PR department.

Dexter Dennis, a highly skilled guard, honed his talents over the course of his college career, spending his initial four seasons at Wichita State before making the move to the Aggies for the 2022/23 season.

His decision to join the Aggies as a “super-senior” was a strategic one, capitalizing on the additional year of eligibility granted to college players due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

During this last college season, he showcased his versatility by averaging 9.5 points and 5.7 rebounds in 28.7 minutes per game across 34 appearances.

It’s important to note that while Dennis never achieved double-digit scoring averages throughout his five college seasons, his impact extended beyond scoring.

His field goal percentage, which stood at 37.5% over the past two years, including a 30.4% conversion rate from beyond the arc, demonstrates his potential to contribute in multiple facets of the game.

However, what truly sets Dennis apart is his defensive prowess. In 2022, he garnered significant recognition by being named the AAC Defensive Player of the Year while playing for the Shockers.

This accolade underscores his ability to disrupt opponents and make a meaningful impact on the defensive end of the court.

Looking ahead, if Dexter Dennis does not secure a spot on the Mavericks’ roster for the upcoming season and is subsequently waived, he is expected to report to the Texas Legends.

The Texas Legends, the G League affiliate of the Dallas Mavericks, present a promising opportunity for Dennis to continue his development.

Notably, if he spends a minimum of 60 days with the Legends, he stands to earn a bonus of up to $75,000.

As of this signing, the Dallas Mavericks have reached the offseason maximum of 21 players on their roster.

The team’s recent announcement suggests that their training camp roster is now finalized, implying that they do not anticipate making any further roster moves in the immediate future.
