According to reports, the Steelers are bringing cornerback Anthony Averett onto their team after he impressed during a tryout at their rookie minicamp.
Averett was drafted by the Ravens in the fourth round of the 2018 draft. After completing his initial four-year rookie deal worth $3.1 million, he became a free agent in 2022.
The 29 year old then signed a one-year contract with the Raiders, which could earn him up to $4 million. After his time with the Raiders, he joined the 49ers on another one-year deal.
Unfortunately, injuries led to his release from the 49ers. He briefly spent time on the Lions’ practice squad.
In the 2022 season, Averett played in seven games for the Raiders, making 13 tackles and defending a pass.
