The San Antonio Spurs are upgrading Dominick Barlow’s contract from a two-way deal to a standard one as reported by Adrian Wojnarowski. They’re filling Barlow’s former two-way spot by signing free agent guard Jamaree Bouyea, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Barlow, who went undrafted from the Overtime Elite league in 2022, initially joined the Spurs with a two-way contract in the summer of that year. The 20-year-old forward/center re-signed with San Antonio last offseason on another two-way deal.
He has played in 51 games with the Spurs over the past two seasons, averaging 4.2 points and 3.6 rebounds in 14.0 minutes per game. Since the Spurs had an open spot on their standard roster, no additional moves were needed to promote Barlow.
As for Bouyea, aged 24, he has seen action in 11 NBA games with the Heat, Wizards, and Trail Blazers over the last two seasons, averaging 2.3 points in 11.6 minutes. Although he struggled during his brief stint with Portland in the 2023/24 season, the former San Francisco standout has been performing exceptionally well in the G League recently.
He’s been averaging 29.3 points, 11.3 assists, 9 rebounds, and 2.3 steals over his last three games, according to Charania. Bouyea, who also went undrafted in 2022, has primarily played with the Miami Heat’s G League affiliate, the Sioux Falls Skyforce, during his first two professional seasons.
