Sources : Raptors’ Jontay Porter Engaged in Multiple Betting Activities, Bet Millions Across Years, Yet None on NBA

Reports from Action Network indicate that Jontay Porter, center for the Toronto Raptors, managed a VIP account on FanDuel in Colorado, where he reportedly placed bets totaling millions of dollars between 2021 and 2023.

However, sources close to Action Network reveal that FanDuel did not accept any of Porter’s wagers on NBA or college basketball games, given his affiliation with the league through his brother, Michael Porter Jr., who plays for the Denver Nuggets.

Allegedly, Porter placed more than 1,000 bets through the sportsbook, with sources describing him as consistently active in his wagering habits.

Porter’s activity on FanDuel ceased shortly before he signed a two-way contract with the Toronto Raptors, according to a source.

In March, ESPN reported that the NBA was investigating Porter due to unusual betting patterns observed on his prop bets.

Data from DraftKings indicated that bets against Porter’s performance during two games in the season had been notably profitable.

On both occasions, Porter left the games early due to reported ailments, resulting in gains for those who bet against him.

Despite attempts to reach out for comment, Jontay Porter’s agent did not respond. Recently, Colorado gaming regulators requested sportsbooks to disclose any accounts associated with Porter.

The NBA prohibits its players and staff from betting on NBA-related games, including those in the G League and WNBA, though wagering on other sports is not explicitly forbidden.

Currently, Jontay Porter is on leave from the Raptors while the investigation unfolds. His involvement in a Discord account offering financial advice and occasional gambling tips for a monthly fee of $49.99 was also noted during this period.

Jontay Porter’s basketball journey has been overshadowed by injuries, including ACL and MCL tears suffered in 2018 and 2019, respectively.

Despite his struggles, he signed a two-way contract with the Raptors in December, which offered him a prorated salary exceeding $400,000. However, his career is now in limbo due to the ongoing gambling investigation by the NBA.
