The Golden State Warriors have reached an agreement to acquire Buddy Hield from the Philadelphia 76ers through a sign-and-trade deal, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
In exchange, the Warriors are sending a 2031 second-round pick from Dallas to the 76ers. The second-round pick being sent to the Sixers is part of a sign-and-trade deal involving Klay Thompson and the Mavericks.
However, the Warriors might also decide to handle these trades separately, creating a trade exception for Thompson’s 2024/25 salary and using it to acquire Kyle Anderson and Buddy Hield.
Anderson is reportedly set to receive a three-year, $27 million deal, with the last year being non-guaranteed. Hield will get a four-year contract with $18 million guaranteed over the first two years, a partial guarantee of $3 million in the third year, and a non-guaranteed player option for the fourth year.
Hield played in a league-high 84 regular season games, exceeding the typical 82-game limit due to a midseason trade from Indiana to Philadelphia.
He averaged 12.1 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.8 assists in 25.7 minutes per game, shooting 38.6% from three-point range. At 31 years old, Hield isn’t known for his defense but is an elite floor spacer, with a career three-point shooting percentage of 40%.
Hield and his new teammate Stephen Curry are among the top leaders in 3-pointers made over the last five NBA seasons, and now they’ll be playing together.
