The President of Serbia’s Olympic Committee, Bozidar Maljkovic, has officially confirmed that Nikola Jokic will be part of Serbia’s lineup for the 2024 Paris Olympics. In an interview with Juan Jimenez of AS.com, Maljkovic, a renowned basketball coach, made this announcement.
He shared this exciting news while reflecting on Serbia’s second-place finish in the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023.
Maljkovic noted the absence of key players like NBA MVP Nikola Jokic, EuroLeague MVP Vasilije Micic, and Nikola Kalinic during that tournament.
He expressed pride in the achievements of other Serbian athletes, including Novak Djokovic and Ivana Spanovic, who won gold in the 2023 World Athletics Championships.
Maljkovic confidently revealed that in Paris, all of these athletes, including Jokic, will be part of the Serbian delegation, making the Paris Games a grand celebration.
“By the way, I already announced that in Paris, they will be all, Jokic included. The Paris Games will be a party, and I am confident that Serbian sport will have a large participation.”- Maljkovic said.
Nikola Jokic, who took a break after winning an NBA championship with the Denver Nuggets, is a vital addition to the Serbian national team.
He has previously represented Serbia in three major FIBA competitions, securing a silver medal in the 2016 Rio Olympics.
