Raptors forward Scottie Barnes had successful surgery in Los Angeles to repair a fracture in the third metacarpal bone of his left hand, the team announced.
Barnes sustained the injury during Friday’s game against the Warriors. In the second quarter, while trying to block a shot, he collided with the rim and screamed in pain.
Before leaving the game, he managed to contribute 10 points, six rebounds, three assists, and one steal in 16 minutes of play.
Despite having undergone the surgery, Michael Grange of Sportsnet.ca believes that Barnes’ season could be over, considering the nature of the injury.
This season, Barnes made his first All-Star appearance, averaging career highs of 19.9 points, 8.2 rebounds, 6.1 assists, 1.5 blocks, 1.3 steals, and 34.9 minutes per game in 60 starts.
He scored 20 or more points in 34 games and recorded 25 double-doubles, including four triple-doubles.
