Despite the Raptors’ modest chances of landing him in the draft lottery, they chose not to tank and went on to the play-in tournament, ultimately winding up with only a one percent chance at Wembanyama.
Away from Wemby, Barnes played a pivotal role in the comeback, scoring crucial points and nailing a game-tying three-pointer in the fourth quarter.

The game saw remarkable moments, with Anunoby’s game-clinching three-pointer, and Wembanyama’s dominance, blocking shots and wreaking havoc on the Raptors’ offense.
However, the Raptors struggled initially, perhaps due to the early start time, but they rallied in the latter part of the game.
Barnes emerged as the star of the night with 30 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists, while Anunoby and Schröder also shone.
In the post-game press conference, Barnes mentioned that when he made his crucial three-pointer with just 38 seconds remaining, he initially believed the Raptors were trailing by four points.
“I looked up and saw we were tied and said ‘okay!’, Barnes said.
The Raptors took the night but Wemby was equally exceptional, he contributed significantly with 20 points, five blocks, nine rebounds, and four assists. Despite a close call in overtime, the Raptors secured the win.
