Sasha Vezenkov Leaving Raptors for EuroLeagues’ Olympiacos “Not True” – Raptors Insider

According to Raptors insider Michael Grange of Sportsnet.ca, rumors that Sasha Vezenkov is being waived and possibly leaving the NBA for the Euroleague are false.

“So, according to those in position to know, reports that Sasha Vezenkov is leaving NBA to play in Greece are … not true. The former King has 1yr left on his NBA deal, Raptors control his rights, & have no intention of waiving him & expect to have him in training camp. Carry on,” Grange wrote on X.

Earlier today, there were reports from Sportando that Sasha was planning to leave the Toronto Raptors for Greek powerhouse Olympiacos.

These reports suggested Sasha wanted to move to Europe before being traded by the Sacramento Kings to the Toronto Raptors, along with teammate Davion Mitchell, in exchange for Jalen McDaniels.

In reality, the Raptors and Vezenkov would need to agree on a contract buyout before any deal could occur. The 6-foot-8 forward is set to earn $6.6 million for the 2024-25 NBA season.

Toronto would likely seek to reduce that amount through a buyout before releasing him if he indeed wants to go to Europe. However, given Grange’s report, it’s unlikely he will leave the NBA soon as the Raptors intend to keep him.
