The Houston Rockets released forward Darius Days in preparation for Monday’s regular season roster deadline to create space for Jeenathan Williams, according to Jonathan Feigen of The Houston Chronicle.

Days, 24, was under a two-way contract with the team after accepting their qualifying offer at the beginning of the offseason.

Throughout the 2022/23 season, Days spent his time on a two-way contract with the Rockets, making appearances in just four NBA games.

However, he had an exceptional season with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, Houston’s G League affiliate.

In a total of 47 regular season and Showcase Cup games for the Vipers last season, Days managed to average 21.9 points and 9.2 rebounds during 33.5 minutes of play per game.

He secured third place in the NBAGL Rookie of the Year voting and earned a spot on the All-G League second team.

Standing at 6’5″, shooting guard Jeenathan Williams demonstrated his prowess by scoring 8.6 points per game with an impressive 63.3% shooting accuracy, even though he only played 10.2 minutes per game in five preseason matches.

Williams had originally signed an Exhibit 10 contract but was retained on the roster through Saturday. This indicated the Rockets’ intention to keep him by converting his contract to a two-way deal.

Once the Rockets officially release Days, make the conversion for Williams, and cut Robinson-Earl, the team will fall within the regular season roster limit.

This will mean they have 15 players under standard contracts and three under two-way contracts.
