Washington Wizards center Richaun Holmes has signed a two-year contract worth $25.9 million with the team, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic. This deal will keep him with the Wizards until the end of the 2025-26 season, Shams added.
To finalize this new agreement, Holmes turned down his $12.8 million player option, ensuring a modest salary increase. It’s worth noting that in the second year of his contract, only $250,000 is guaranteed.
Holmes is expected to be a significant player for the Wizards as they rebuild in the 2024-25 season. Last season, he played in 42 games and averaged 5.0 points per game, shooting with a field goal accuracy of 55.8%.
Additionally, he provided 4.6 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game, usually playing about 11 minutes each game. Earlier this week, the Wizards traded Deni Avdija to the Blazers to acquire Malcom Brogdon. Sources indicate that Brogdon is likely to be traded again soon.
