Reports : Cavs Uninterested in Trading Jarrett Allen for Brandon Ingram Unless Allen Requests Trade

The Cleveland Cavaliers have no interest in trading Darius Garland or Jarrett Allen to the New Orleans Pelicans in exchange for Brandon Ingram, as reported by Sam Amico of Hoops Wire. According to Amico, the Cavaliers won’t consider moving Garland or Allen unless one of them requests a trade.

Garland posted averages of 18.0 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 6.5 assists this season, shooting 44.6% from the field, 37.1% from three-point range, and 83.4% from the free-throw line. He is set to earn $36.7 million next season.

Allen, under contract for two more years at $40 million, averaged 16.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 0.7 steals, and 1.1 blocks per game, with shooting percentages of 63.4% from the field and 74.2% from the free-throw line.

Per reports, the Cavaliers are making the core 4 of Garland, Allen, Donovan Mitchell, and Evan Mobley untouchable in trade negotiations. Mitchell is expected to sign a maximum contract extension with Cleveland this offseason, while Mobley is likely to receive a substantial rookie-scale extension.

In the 2024 playoffs, the Cavaliers were defeated by the Boston Celtics in the second round in five games. Mitchell missed Games 4 and 5 due to injury, and Allen was absent for the entire series.

Ingram, who will be eligible for a four-year, $208 million extension this offseason, has one year remaining on his contract. This season, he averaged 20.8 points, 5.1 rebounds, 5.7 assists, 0.8 steals, and 0.6 blocks, with shooting splits of 49.2% from the field, 35.5% from three-point range, and 80.1% from the free-throw line.
