Report : Clippers Exploring Trade Options for Bones Hyland After Westbrook Exit

Clippers guard, Bones Hyland, experienced increased playing time during the last six weeks of the 2023/24 season.

With Russell Westbrook now traded, Hyland won’t have him as competition on the depth chart for the 2024/25 season.

However, the arrival of Kris Dunn and Kevin Porter Jr. complicates the backcourt situation, which already includes James Harden, Norman Powell, and Terance Mann.

This means Hyland still faces uncertainty regarding consistent playing time, and he remains a potential trade piece, according to Law Murray of The Athletic.

Michael Scotto of HoopsHype recently reported that the Clippers were interested in a sign-and-trade deal involving free agent point guard Tyus Jones, potentially including Hyland, PJ Tucker, and Russell Westbrook.

Contrarily, Law Murray reported that the team never prioritized Jones. With the acquisition of Kris Dunn, the Clippers are no longer seen as a potential destination for Jones.

Murray suggests that the rumors might have originated from Jones’ camp as he continues to seek a new contract, three weeks into free agency.
