Raptors to Trade Bruce Brown Next Month, Should Denver Consider Acquiring Him?

The Toronto Raptors plan to exercise their $23 million option on Bruce Brown Jr., with the aim of trading him during the offseason, according to Doug Smith of the Toronto Star.

Given this, should the Denver Nuggets consider bringing Brown back to the Mile High City?

Brown joined the Raptors as part of a major trade involving Pascal Siakam from the Indiana Pacers. Though the Raptors contemplated trading him at the deadline, no deal was made.

Back in January, Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report/TNT reported that the Nuggets were among the teams interested in acquiring Brown, though the Raptors did not move him.

“I was told that the Denver Nuggets would love to have Bruce Brown back,” Haynes said on the This League Uncut Podcast. “They just don’t have the picks to try to do that… That’s something to keep an eye on down the road.”

During the Nuggets’ playoff run, which ended in their first championship, Brown was their third-best player. His return would likely strengthen their lineup for the upcoming season.

Brown left the Nuggets last year at the start of free agency to join the Indiana Pacers, and was subsequently traded to the Raptors this season.

He had a relatively underwhelming stint with the Raptors and later disclosed that he had been dealing with a knee issue.

In 34 games with the Raptors, including 11 starts, Brown averaged 9.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.7 assists, while shooting 48.1 percent from the field and 31 percent from beyond the arc.
