Porzingis had been ruled out for Monday’s game against the Dallas Mavericks due to inflammation in his right knee, as per the teams’ official statement.
Boston is being careful with their talented big man, treating this as a rest day for Porzingis. In the previous game against Houston on Sunday, he scored 32 points, made six three-pointers, and blocked five shots in 33 minutes.
While Porzingis has had some ups and downs recently with the Celtics, Sunday’s performance showcased his dominance when given a central role in the offense.
Notably, he became the first player in Celtics history to make six threes and record five blocks in a single game, highlighting his two-way skills and ability to contribute offensively.
He is expected to return to action on Thursday against Miami, with Al Horford filling in for Porzingis in the game against Dallas on Monday.
Luke Kornet, Sam Hauser, and Oshae Brissett are also potential candidates for extra minutes.
