Phoenix Suns to Keep Frank Vogel as Head Coach For Next Season – Marc Stein

As we previously reported, the Suns are expected to reach a decision regarding Frank Vogel’s future as the team’s head coach either today (Monday) or tomorrow. Sources close to the team suggest that internal discussions about Vogel’s fate may have concluded.

According to reports from Marc Stein, the Phoenix Suns are considering retaining Frank Vogel as their head coach for the upcoming season.

“I have heard that one option that the Suns have considered is, just completely redo the staff around him,” Stein shared on the ThisLeague Uncut podcast with Chris B Haynes.

Vogel, 50, joined the Suns last June. Although his first season saw success in the regular season, doubts arose after the team was swept by Anthony Edwards’ Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round of the playoffs, despite boasting a superstar trio of Kevin Durant, Bradley Beal, and Devin Booker.

If Vogel is retained and continues as head coach for the upcoming season, his second with the team, he will still have three years left on his five-year, $31 million contract.

Despite facing setbacks and fan criticism, he is still considered a good coach who could excel in his second season with a strategic assistant coaching appointment.

Achieving success may depend on offseason adjustments, Vogel’s capacity to reestablish control of the locker room, and the team’s cohesion in the coming months.
