Nuggets Notes : Update on Reggie Jackson’s Injury, Nikola Jokic

Reggie Jackson suffered an ankle injury during Thursday’s game against the Lakers and didn’t return. He only managed to score five points and dish out one assist in seven minutes of play.

Reports from Vinny Benedetto of Denver Gazette indicate that he was spotted wearing a boot and using crutches on Friday, indicating he’ll likely be listed questionable for Saturday’s Game 4 against the Lakers.

Jackson’s ankle trouble was apparent when he left for the locker room in the third quarter, and he didn’t re-enter the game.

After the game, coach Michael Malone said Jackson was close to sitting out Game 3 altogether, suggesting the coaching staff is considering alternatives for Game 4 if he is unable to suit up.

Given the Nuggets’ 3-0 lead in the series, they’re likely to prioritize Jackson’s well-being. With him out, Christian Braun is expected to get more time on the court.

Jokic :

The Denver Nuggets won the Game 3 on Thursday, stretching their winning streak  against the Los Angeles Lakers to 11 games. The Nuggets are close to completing a sweep of the Lakers from the playoffs for the second year in a row.

According to Nikola Jokic post-game, “Winning is a lifestyle for us…It’s really good when you’re winning. Especially when you win a lot of games, everybody is happy, everybody  wants to play, everybody is buying into the system. I was here when  we were losing. So I don’t want to go back to that.”

Throughout the initial three games of the 2024 NBA playoffs, Jokic boasts a player efficiency rating of 35.0, with an average of 27.7 points, 15.7 rebounds, and 8.7 assists.

Jokic stands on the brink of winning his third regular-season MVP award, while the Nuggets are in the midst of defending their championship title.
