Miles Bridges of the Charlotte Hornets was out for the entirety of last season due to his arrest in June 2022 on felony domestic violence charges.
During this time, the Hornets chose to wait for the resolution of his legal issues before making any decisions about his NBA future.
This summer, they decided to bring Bridges back by offering him a $7.9 million qualifying offer, as he had demonstrated a commitment to getting his life back on track.
As part of a plea deal, Bridges will be on probation for three years and hasn’t served any jail time for the initial incident.
However, a recent development emerged when another arrest warrant in Bridges’ case was revealed.
This warrant is related to a previous domestic violence incident, where the Hornets forward allegedly violated a protective order by damaging the windshield of his longtime girlfriend’s car back in January. It’s reported that this incident took place at her residence.
New details have shed light on the arrest warrant related to Miles Bridges. According to The Charlotte Observer(subscription based), court records from Mecklenburg County reveal that the alleged incident took place in Charlotte on Tuesday, involving Bridges and the woman in a child custody exchange.
Bridges now faces charges of misdemeanor child abuse, damage to personal property, and violating a domestic protective order.
The woman alleges that Bridges threw pool table balls at her car while their children were inside, and she further claims that he threatened her by suggesting he would withhold child support if she involved the police.
Bridges is summoned to appear in a Charlotte criminal court on November 13. The NBA and the Charlotte Hornets have not issued official comments on these new allegations.
The Hornets, in response to inquiries from The Charlotte Observer, mentioned, “We are aware of the reports and are in the process of gathering more information.”
Bridges, 25, has been out of the NBA since April 2022. He received a 30-game suspension from the league after signing with Charlotte this offseason, with 20 games of this suspension already served due to missing the entirety of the last season.
According to updated case documents this morning, Miles Bridges’ court appearance is scheduled for November 13, 2023.
