The NBA has wrapped up its investigation into Josh Giddey, as per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, following prior findings by police that there was no basis for charges in connection with accusations that the OKC Thunder player had an inappropriate relationship with an underage girl.
Newport Beach, California, police declared in January that they couldn’t verify any criminal activity involving Giddey and thus wouldn’t pursue legal action.
The NBA reached a similar decision and concluded its own investigation on Thursday. Allegations against Giddey emerged on social media in late November, but the anonymous account that made the claims has since been deactivated.
Newport Beach police began looking into the matter on Nov. 29, with NBA Commissioner Adam Silver stating in early December that the league’s probe would be subordinate to the police investigation.
Giddey chose not to address the allegations publicly. He continued to play for the Thunder, averaging 8.7 points and 3.6 rebounds per game during their playoff run to the WC semifinals. The Thunder bowed out in the second round against the Dallas Mavericks in a six-game series.
