Multiple Celtics Players Want Blake Griffin Back in Boston

The Boston Celtics are having an exceptional season, positioning themselves as top contenders for the NBA championship.

However, despite their success, certain players are advocating for Blake Griffin to rejoin the team.

“The whole team has been begging him to return to Boston,” as per Celtics guard Derrick White.

Boston guard Payton Pritchard revealed he reached out to Griffin directly, albeit without success so far.

“I texted him jokingly a week or two ago, asking, ‘Coming back for one last ride?’ He responded he’s enjoying his life,” Pritchard shared.

During a FaceTime call, Griffin labeled the Celtics as the primary contenders for the NBA title currently, although he didn’t want to jinx them.

“I don’t wanna put bad juju on ’em, but yeah, they’re the heavy favorites in my mind,” Griffin said.

Approaching his 35th birthday, Griffin played 41 games for the Celtics in the 2022-23 season, averaging 4.1 points and 3.8 rebounds per game.

He has an illustrious career, including six All-Star appearances and impressive averages of 19.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game.

Despite his achievements, Griffin has never reached a conference finals or NBA Finals. However, the Celtics, led by Tatum, Brown, and Porzingis, currently lead the Eastern Conference with a 45-12 record.

While the Celtics may have a strong roster, both White and Pritchard praised Griffin as an outstanding teammate.

The podcast host even teased Griffin about his dunking ability, suggesting a narrative change could entice him to consider a comeback.

Though Griffin’s remarks were likely in jest, it is unlikely to deter White, Pritchard, and other Celtics from pursuing his return for another playoff run.
