Update : Michael Porter Jr. (illness) has been upgraded to available for Sunday vs Wizards. He’ll start alongside Murray, Caldwell-Pope, Gordon and Jokic.
Nuggets’ Michael Porter Jr. is listed questionable for Sunday against the Washington Wizards due to an illness, which is not good news. In his last game against the Celtics, he scored 13 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
Throughout the season, Porter has attempted about 14.5% of his team’s shots per game, averaging 12.9 attempts. He also takes around 6.9 three-point shots per game, contributing to 22.0% of his team’s shots from beyond the arc.
If he can’t play, Justin Holiday is likely to start. Christian Braun is another option, but he hasn’t met the Nuggets’ expectations this season.
Porters’ Nuggets have an average of 99.8 possessions per game, ranking 16th in the NBA. The Wizards, with a middle-of-the-road offense, have 105.1 possessions per contest, ranking 15th.
The Denver Nuggets face the Washington Wizards at 6:00 PM ET on Sunday. After playing against the Wizards, the Nuggets will go to Indiana for a game against the Pascal Siakam’s Pacers on Tuesday night.
The Wizards currently hold the 14th seed in the Eastern Conference with a 7-34 record in their first 41 games.
They’ve struggled lately, losing 9 out of their last 10 games and enduring a three-game losing streak. Their most recent loss was against the San Antonio Spurs, where they were defeated 131-127, led by Victor Wembanyama.
Following the Nuggets game, the Wizards will stay at home to play against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday night in Washington, D.C.
