Mathew Hurt Agrees to a 10-Day Contract With The Grizzlies

The Memphis Grizzlies are set to sign forward Matthew Hurt to a second 10-day contract, reports’ ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Hurt, who boasts averages of 21.8 points and 7.3 rebounds for the Grizzlies’ G League squad, is getting another opportunity with the main roster.

The 23-year-old forward initially joined Memphis on a 10-day contract under the hardship exception toward the end of January.

During his brief stint, he appeared in three games, tallying averages of 5.7 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 1.0 assists in 18.7 minutes per contest.

With the Grizzlies currently operating at full capacity in terms of roster spots, they’ll need to make room for Hurt by executing another transaction.

Over the past weekend, the team opted to part ways with Jacob Gilyard instead of converting his two-way contract, as they were reluctant to free up a spot on the roster.

Hurt has predominantly plied his trade with the Memphis Hustle, the Grizzlies’ G League affiliate, where he’s been putting up impressive numbers of 21.8 points and 7.3 rebounds per game.

Although he was with the Grizzlies during training camp last fall, he was subsequently waived before the commencement of the regular season.

Since then, he has been an integral part of the Hustle setup after going undrafted out of Duke in 2021.
