After the NBA Finals, where the Mavericks lost to the Boston Celtics in five games, Mark Cuban no longer oversees basketball operations for the Dallas Mavericks, according to Tim MacMahon of ESPN.
Nico Harrison now reports directly to new owner Patrick Dumont, who acquired the team from Cuban in late 2023. During the playoffs, Dumont extended contracts for both Harrison and Jason Kidd.
When Cuban sold the Mavericks to the Dumont and Adelson family, he had initially stated that he would retain control over basketball operations indefinitely.
Cuban has historically had a unique influence on player decisions, but now the organizational structure is more traditional, with Harrison having the authority from Dumont to manage the team roster autonomously.
