TNT and Bleacher Report’s Chris Haynes reports’ (via Evan Sidery) that OG Anunoby is expected to sit out the remainder of the New York Knicks’ series against the Indiana Pacers.
Before game 5 on Tuesday, Coach Tom Thibodeau informed reporters that Anunoby is participating in light training on the court, but his return hinges on the medical staff’s decision. This absence in game 5 marks the third consecutive game he’s sat out due to a left hamstring strain.
While the 25-year-old forward is making progress in his recovery, his availability for Game 6 on Friday remains uncertain. With confirmation from Haynes, it’s likely that Anunoby will miss the rest of the Eastern Conference semifinals.
On a brighter note, if the Knicks manage to defeat the Pacers, Anunoby could potentially return for the Eastern Conference Finals. Currently, the series is tied at 2-2, with game 5 already in progress at MSG.
The winner of the series will face either the Boston Celtics or the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Celtics currently lead 3-1. If the Knicks make it to the finals, it will be their first time since 2000.
