Malik Monk, a finalist for the Sixth Man of the Year award, has signed a four-year contract worth $78 million with the Sacramento Kings, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
This deal includes a player option for the fourth year. Starting with a salary of $17.4 million, Monk’s earnings will represent 12.3 percent of the $141 million salary cap for the 2024-25 season.
The Kings have offered Monk the maximum contract permissible under the collective bargaining agreement. Monk was on the verge of becoming an unrestricted free agent, but the Kings secured his commitment before he hit the open market.
Last season, Monk played 72 games, averaging 15.4 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 3.9 assists in 26.0 minutes per game. He finished second in the Sixth Man of the Year voting, behind Naz Reid, but his season was cut short by a sprained MCL.
Monk joined the Kings in 2022 on a two-year, $19 million deal, after proving himself as a capable scorer with the Lakers.
