Kings Injury Update: Sasha Vezenkov Returns, Murray and Duarte Questionable, Trey Lyles Upgraded

6:07 PM : Sasha Vezenkov has been added back to the Kings injury report for Wednesday’s game against the Pelicans with left thumb soreness, as per Sean Cunningham of Fox 40.

5:27 PM : On Wednesday evening, the Sacramento Kings are set to face the New Orleans Pelicans at the Smoothie King Center, Louisiana.

In this matchup, the Kings could welcome some key players with Sasha Vezenkov expected to return from his left thumb soreness and start Wednesday’s game against the New Orleans Pelicans as he’s not listed on the team’s injury report.

However, Keegan Murray and Chris Duarte are both questionable for the game due to injuries, and Trey Lyles, who has yet to make his season debut, has been upgraded to questionable.

Vezenkov’s return is a welcome boost for the Kings, who were without him in Monday’s loss to the Pelicans. His absence opened up a spot in the starting lineup for Kessler Edwards, but Vezenkov is expected to reclaim his starting role on Wednesday.

Murray left Monday’s game early with lower back spasms, and his status for Wednesday is uncertain. If Murray is unable to play, Vezenkov would likely start in his place. Edwards could also see increased minutes if Murray is out.

Duarte is also dealing with a left thumb soreness, and his status for Wednesday is also questionable. If Duarte is unable to play, Malik Monk and Kevin Huerter could see some additional minutes.

Lyles, who has been sidelined with a left calf strain since the start of the season, has been upgraded to questionable for Wednesday’s game. If Lyles is able to make his debut, he could provide some much-needed depth in the frontcourt. However, his return is also likely to reduce the minutes for Vezenkov and Edwards.
