Richardson began his career with the Miami Heat in 2015 and spent his first four seasons there. Between 2019 and 2023, he played for several teams, including Philadelphia, Dallas, Boston, San Antonio, and New Orleans.
He rejoined the Heat last summer on a two-year, minimum-salary contract with a player option for the second year. Health issues limited him to 43 games, where he averaged 9.9 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.4 assists.
After undergoing shoulder surgery in March, he opted into his contract for 2024-25, aiming for a full recovery by the season’s start.
During the 2023-2024 season, Richardson averaged 9.9 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game. Despite his contributions, the Heat made it to the playoffs but were eliminated by the Boston Celtics in the first round in a 5 game series.
