About a month ago, reports from league executives suggested that the Jazz might trade Jordan Clarkson and Collin Sexton this offseason.
However, recent updates from Andy Larsen of The Salt Lake Tribune reveal that Clarkson hasn’t attracted significant trade interest, implying he will likely remain on Utah’s roster when the regular season begins this fall.
Larsen believes that Clarkson, Sexton, and Keyonte George all share similar qualities as offensive-minded guards who aren’t particularly strong defenders or highly efficient shooters.
Although they might be best suited for roles as sixth men, Larsen predicts that George and Sexton will start, with Clarkson coming off the bench.
Instead of starting John Collins again alongside Lauri Markkanen and Walker Kessler in the frontcourt, Larsen suggests that the Jazz should consider giving their 2024 lottery pick, Cody Williams, a chance in the starting lineup.
Williams had an impressive performance in the summer league and could provide the team with much-needed upside as an offensive connector.
Williams averaged 17.5 points per game in the summer league, including a standout performance against the Kings where he scored 14 points, grabbed two rebounds, and recorded two blocks.
In Larsen’s projected depth chart for the Jazz, Isaiah Collier, Taylor Hendricks, and Drew Eubanks join Clarkson and Collins on the second unit.
