Isaiah Thomas recently participated in a workout session with the Milwaukee Bucks in Las Vegas, aiming to stay in the NBA for another year or two, as reported by Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Thomas, a former two-time All-Star, had been absent from the NBA for a few years before being given another chance with the Phoenix Suns. This season, he played only 14 minutes during four games for the Suns, but he has reportedly performed well in practices.
Over his 12-year career, Thomas has played for 10 different teams. He is currently unrestricted free agent.
The Bucks currently have 15 players on standard contracts, with the recent addition of Gary Trent Jr, who turned down offers from other teams to join his former teammate Damian Lillard in Milwaukee.
Fourteen of these contracts are fully guaranteed, while Andre Jackson has a partially guaranteed deal.
If Thomas were to sign with the Bucks, it would likely be on an Exhibit 10 contract. This type of contract is a non-guaranteed, minimum-salary deal that doesn’t affect a team’s salary cap unless the player makes the regular-season roster.
It can be converted to a two-way contract before the season starts, or it can offer the player a bonus of up to $77,500 if he’s waived and then spends at least 60 days with the team’s G League affiliate.
