Clippers Determined to Retain George and Harden, Extend Zubac’s Contract

After extending head coach Tyronn Lue’s contract to a five-year, $70 million deal, the Los Angeles Clippers are determined to keep Paul George and James Harden in free agency, as reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Additionally, talks are underway for a contract extension with center Ivica Zubac, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

George, who could be the top free agent this offseason, is likely to draw interest from teams like the Philadelphia 76ers and Orlando Magic. Harden, who joined the Clippers last October, may have a more limited market from other teams.

Zubac had a strong season, averaging 11.7 points and 9.4 rebounds with a 67.1% true shooting percentage. The Clippers see him as a crucial part of their long-term plans.

Back in January, the Clippers secured Kawhi Leonard with a three-year, $152.4 million extension. However, their championship aspirations were dashed with a first-round loss to the Dallas Mavericks in six games, as Kawhi was sidelined for most of the playoffs due to a knee injury.
