Free agent guard Cam Payne has agreed on a one-year deal with the Milwaukee Bucks, as reported by Shams Charania of THE Athletic.
Payne, who had a four-season stint with the Phoenix Suns, was dealt to the San Antonio Spurs in July and subsequently waived just last month.
During the 2022-23 season, he appeared in 48 games, securing 15 starts, and maintained averages of 10.3 points and 4.5 assists, all while logging 20.2 minutes per matchup.
It appears that Payne is set to take on the role of the main reserve for Milwaukee’s newly-acquired All-Star point guard,Damian Lillard.
The Bucks, a high-profile team in the Eastern Conference, seem well-positioned to compete for a top seed once more.
While the specific details of the agreement have not been disclosed, it’s important to note that due to their salary cap situation, the Bucks can only provide Payne with a contract at the veteran’s minimum level.
