Cam Payne Arrested in Arizona for Falsifying Information to Police

Early Friday morning, 76ers’ guard Cameron Payne  found himself in trouble with the law in Scottsdale, according to ABC15 Arizona.

Police were called to 68th Street and Chaparral Road around 2:45 a.m. due to a reported disturbance. Upon arrival, officers spoke with two individuals, one of whom was later identified as Payne.

Although the specifics of the disturbance remain undisclosed, authorities reported that Payne was arrested on two counts: failing to provide his true identity and giving false information to law enforcement. After being booked into the Scottsdale City Jail, he was released on his own recognizance.

Payne’s basketball journey began at Murray State, leading to his selection as the 14th overall pick by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the 2015 NBA Draft.

His career saw him with the Chicago Bulls, and brief periods with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Toronto Raptors. Following a stint abroad and a period with the Dallas Mavericks’ G League team, Payne signed a two-year contract with the Phoenix Suns in June 2020.

During his four seasons with the Suns, he often served as the backup point guard to Chris Paul. In July 2023, Payne was traded to the San Antonio Spurs, who later waived him.
