The Boston Celtics have waived 7-foot center Kylor Kelley from their roster after a brief 48-hour stint, according to Keith Smith of Spotrac.

However, as we previously reported when the Boston Celtics initially signed Kylor Kelley to an exhibit 10 contract, it was expected that he would likely be waived before the regular season begin.

This was with the intention of him joining the Boston Celtics’ G League affiliate team, the Maine Celtics, which is indeed where he’s headed now.

Kylor Kelley, who stands at an imposing seven feet tall, had previously played in 21 games for the Raptors 905 in the NBA G League during the previous season.

During his time there, he averaged 7.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks in 15.3 minutes per game.

His most recent basketball endeavor was with the Calgary Surge in the Canadian Elite Basketball League during the spring and summer.

Interestingly, Kelley’s G League rights were traded from the Raptors 905 to the Maine Celtics just last month.

If Kylor Kelley spends a minimum of 60 days with the Maine Celtics, he becomes eligible for an Exhibit 10 bonus, which can amount to as much as $75,000.

At 26 years old, Kelley has had quite a journey since going undrafted from Oregon State in 2020, playing in various countries, including England, Denmark, Canada, and the G League.

With the decision to waive Kylor Kelley, the Boston Celtics now have 19 players officially under contract, which includes the recently finalized deal with new big man Wenyen Gabriel.
