Anthony Edwards Admits Selfish Play’s Impact on Wolves’ Offense, Promises Change for Celtics Matchup

The Timberwolves have emerged as the top defensive team in the league early in the 2023/24 season.

However, their offensive performance had been lackluster until their recent dominant victory over the Jazz on Saturday.

During this game, Anthony Edwards had his most efficient scoring performance, tallying 31 points on 13-of-19 shooting.

Nevertheless, Edwards openly admits that his occasionally “selfish” style of play has hindered the Timberwolves’ offensive flow.

He’s actively working on broadening his impact on the game beyond just scoring, particularly in preparation for their upcoming matchup against the high-scoring Boston Celtics, who currently hold the title of the league’s best offensive team, according to insights from Chris Hine of The Star Tribune.

In Edwards’ own words, he expressed, “Starting with myself, I can’t afford to be selfish and fixated on how many points I want to score. That’s been my main focus. I tend to overly concern myself with scoring and the number of points I can accumulate, rather than focusing on the finer details of the game such as rebounding, boxing out, and defensive efforts. If I shift my mentality to prioritize aspects other than scoring, we’ll be in a better position.”

Tonight, the Minnesota Timberwolves are set to welcome the Boston Celtics at the Target Centre in Minnesota, with hopes of putting an end to the Celtics’ impressive unbeaten run.

Notably, the Celtics are currently dealing with the absence of Derick White, and there is uncertainty surrounding Porzingis’ availability for this evening’s game, which could potentially provide the Timberwolves with an added advantage.
