Less than a month after one of Denver Nuggets star Michael Porter Jr.’s siblings received a six-year prison sentence for his involvement in a deadly crash in Denver, another one of his brothers has been apprehended on suspicion of driving while intoxicated in Missouri, where he is enrolled in college basketball.
According to online records from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Jevon Porter, aged 20, was detained around 1:30 a.m. on April 27 in Boone County. The records indicate that he was arrested for DWI – alcohol and for exceeding the speed limit. He was subsequently released on a summons.
A biography from the Pepperdine University identified Jevon Porter as the younger sibling of MPJ, a standout player for the Nuggets. Despite the attention garnered by multiple significant incidents involving his siblings, MPJ has managed to maintain his focus on the NBA playoffs.
On April 19, Coban Porter, another brother, was sentenced in Denver District Court to six years in the Colorado Department of Corrections for his role in a fatal collision near the University of Denver in January 2023.
Coban Porter admitted during his sentencing that he was intoxicated when he disregarded a red light on January 22, 2023, at the intersection of South University Boulevard and East Buchtel Boulevard, resulting in the death of Katharina Rothman, with a passenger in her vehicle suffering serious injuries.
During the same week as Coban Porter’s sentencing, another sibling, Jontay Porter – formerly of Toronto Raptors, was permanently banned from the NBA for violating league regulations by divulging confidential information to sports bettors, affecting his own participation in one or more games for betting purposes, and placing bets on NBA matches.
