Suns Trade David Roddy to Hawks for E.J. Liddell

The Phoenix Suns are sending David Roddy to Atlanta Hawks in exchange for E.J. Liddell, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

This move helps Phoenix save on costs, as they are over the luxury tax limit and needed to balance salaries.

Liddell’s contract is worth $2.1 million this season and includes a $2.3 million club option for 2025/26. Roddy, on the other hand, has a $2.8 million salary this season and a $4.8 million team option for the same year.

Roddy, who was acquired by Phoenix from Memphis last season, struggled for playing time with the Suns, appearing in only 17 games with minimal minutes. The Hawks, having more flexibility at forward positions, seem to prefer Roddy over Liddell.

Liddell, drafted in 2022, has had a tough start due to a significant knee injury and played sparingly for New Orleans last season. He also had a strong showing in the G League.
