The Charlotte Hornets are planning to waive Reggie Jackson, and once he’s officially off waivers, he will be joining the Philadelphia 76ers.
Jackson was recently acquired from the Denver Nuggets in a trade where the Nuggets sent their second-round picks for 2025, 2029, and 2030 to Charlotte in exchange for cash.
Jackson had initially joined the Nuggets in February 2023 after being bought out and signed as a free agent.
However, he struggled during the Nuggets’ championship run, shooting only 38.3% from the field and 27.9% from beyond the arc in 16 regular-season games. He eventually fell out of the playoff rotation.
Despite his performance, the Nuggets decided to keep Jackson for the 2023/24 season, giving him a raise with a two-year, $10.25 million contract using their taxpayer mid-level exception.
The 34-year-old guard bounced back, averaging 10.2 points, 3.8 assists, and 1.9 rebounds in 22.2 minutes per game, with shooting percentages of .431 from the field, .359 from three-point range, and .806 from the free-throw line.
Despite his improved performance, the Nuggets traded Jackson in a deal aimed at reducing their salary cap burden, attaching future draft picks to create more financial flexibility.
