Sasha Vezenkov to Leave Raptors for Olympiacos on Four-Year Deal

Sasha Vezenkov has decided to leave the Raptors and return to his roots by rejoining Olympiacos, according to Sportando. The 2023 EuroLeague MVP will sign a four-year contract worth $17.1 million with the Greek powerhouse.

He is expected to be waived by Toronto soon to facilitate the move, as noted by Matteo Andreani of Basket360inside. Previously with the Kings, Vezenkov had voiced his wish to return to the EuroLeague prior to his trade to the Raptors. This trade involved Jalen McDaniels moving to Sacramento and Davion Mitchell joining the Raptors.

Vezenkov, who was honored as the 2022/23 EuroLeague MVP, was originally the 57th pick in the 2017 draft. He didn’t transition to the NBA until last summer, signing a three-year, $20 million deal with the Kings.

His rookie season in the NBA was a mixed bag; he made 37.5% of his three-point shots but played an average of just 12.2 minutes per game across 42 appearances, tallying 5.4 points and 2.3 rebounds per game.
