The Denver Nuggets and Jamal Murray are close to finalizing a four-year, $209 million maximum contract extension this offseason, as reported by Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Both Murray and the Nuggets anticipate reaching an agreement on this lucrative offer. Currently in the last year of his five-year, $182.8 million contract, Murray is set to earn $36 million next season.
Meanwhile, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope has opted to decline his $15.4 million player option for the 2024/25 season with the Nuggets, according to Charania.
This move makes Caldwell-Pope an unrestricted free agent, although it doesn’t rule out a potential return to Denver.
The Nuggets are expected to face strong competition from several teams with available salary cap space, all vying for the services of the versatile wing known for his three-point shooting and defensive ability.
The Nuggets, coming off a championship-caliber season last year, fell short to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the semifinals of the Western Conference playoffs this season.
