Report: Rockets not Interested in Trading Reed Sheppard

The Houston Rockets have decided to retain Reed Sheppard, the third overall pick in the 2024 draft, contrary to earlier reports suggesting they would trade their pick for a more impactful player.

Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports reports that the Rockets are committed to keeping Sheppard.

In his single college season at Kentucky, Sheppard played as the Wildcats’ sixth man, averaging 28.9 minutes per game. He impressed NBA scouts with his shooting, playmaking, and defensive skills.

Over 33 games, he averaged 12.5 points, 4.5 assists, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.5 steals per game, shooting 53.6% from the field, 52.1% from three-point range, and 83.1% from the free-throw line.

Sheppard will join a promising young Houston core that includes Alperen Sengun, Jalen Green, Amen Thompson, and Jabari Smith.
