Jimmy Butler intends to honor his current contract with the Miami Heat and isn’t interested in negotiating an extension with them or any other team that might consider trading for him, according to Shams Charania of Stadium.
Butler has a player option for the 2025-26 season, allowing him the choice to become a free agent or facilitate an opt-in-and-trade deal.
He is keen on staying with the Heat and aims to have an exceptional 2024-25 season, with hopes of securing a lucrative contract next offseason.
Since joining the Miami Heat in 2019, Butler has been instrumental in their success, leading the team to two NBA Finals appearances.
His performance in the 2023-24 season was stellar, averaging 20.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game, with a shooting accuracy of 49.9% from the field and 41.4% from three-point range.
Defensively, Butler has also been outstanding, averaging 1.3 steals per game this season. Throughout his time with the Heat, he has consistently been a top performer in both the regular season and the playoffs.
A six-time NBA All-Star, Butler has attracted trade interest from several teams, including the Philadelphia 76ers and the Houston Rockets.
