Scottie Barnes Signs 5-Year, $270 Million Max Contract with Raptors

Scottie Barnes and the Toronto Raptors have struck a deal on a five-year maximum contract, potentially worth up to $270 million if he meets the criteria for the Rose rule with an All-NBA selection in the 2024-25 season, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports.

Barnes is set to earn 25% of the cap max annually, starting with $38.8 million in the 2025-26 season. His salary will rise to $41.9 million in 2026-27, then to $44.9 million in 2027-28. By 2028-29, he will be making $48.1 million, and in 2029-30, his earnings will peak at $51.2 million.

Over five years, this sums up to $224.9 million. Should he achieve All-Star status during this period, Barnes will pocket an additional $45.1 million, bringing his total earnings to a staggering $270 million.

Barnes, who will be 23 in August, made his debut All-Star appearance this past season, delivering impressive averages of 19.9 points, 8.2 rebounds, 6.1 assists, 1.3 steals, and 1.5 blocks per game.

Remarkably, he became the first player since Chris Bosh in the 2004-05 season to achieve over 1,000 points, along with 75 steals and 75 blocks in a single season.

Barnes also topped the Toronto Raptors in total points, rebounds, assists, and blocks, even though he missed the last 22 games due to a broken hand.

Drafted fourth overall in 2021, Barnes was named the NBA Rookie of the Year in 2022. His contract is the most richest in the history of the Raptors.
